Michael Eisner, Disney’s long-time CEO once said, “There’s no good idea that cannot be improved on.” Under the able stewardship of Sage and all the talented and passionate Intacct executives still on board since the acquisition, the Sage Intacct 2019 Release 1 is proving Eisner’s statement correct. Sage continues to accelerate the development of its flagship cloud accounting solution, continuing Intacct’s practice of four significant releases per calendar year. Release 1 provides a strong start to the 2019 year. Here’s a recap of what we feel are the most significant features in the latest release, along with how we think you can get the most out of them:
Bank Reconciliations in the New UI
Bank Reconciliations in the Sage Intacct Cash Management module were updated to the new user interface (UI). The functionality of the auto-match and importing files has been enhanced, along with the ability to speed up larger volume reconciliations. Faster is better — yes?
AP Approval Workflows
Accounts Payable can now handle an approval workflow similar to the current approval policies available in Purchasing — which is really cool. By selecting Value Approval rule types, you can create approval policies that align with your business processes without having to configure a purchasing workflow.
Ready, Set, Action!
The new Action UI is now standard, meaning that if you’re still using the old UI (we know there’s a few hold outs!), you will have to switch back, and sometime within 2019, the old UI will no longer be available. Use this as your opportunity to embrace the new UI. All new features and functionality are only available in the new UI, so you’ll be missing out on the good stuff if you don’t.
Project transaction rules got a big enhancement by now being able to support cost plus billing, providing you with greater insight to project profitability. This allows you to allocate overhead costs plus a markup to any project, not just labor burden and markup.
The Sage Intacct Dynamic Allocations module can now group allocations and control the sequence. The solution also allows for book stacking in reporting so you can show allocations side-by-side with the ease of a checkbox. You can also use statistical accounts such as a head count and square footage as drivers for your cost allocations. This is big news for you analyst types!
The Contracts module was enhanced with the ability to bill on percent complete if you also use projects in conjunction with contracts. Sage Intacct is now the only mid-market cloud solution that offers this capability. Innovation at its best!
