Key Takeaways from the 2020 Microsoft Business Applications Summit
Last week, Microsoft hosted its first fully digital Microsoft Business Applications Summit. In this “COVID Era” of doing business, Microsoft guided companies through uncertainty; bringing this Summit to a virtual environment was no exception. The communication was excellent. The session participation and scheduling were easily managed. The day before the event, I even was mailed a small “swag” package from Microsoft, similar to the bags of goodies you’d get at conference registration. These thoughtful touches helped bring the conference experience right to our homes.
The keynotes, general sessions, and expert discussions in the Microsoft Business Applications community were particularly interesting. However, I was curious to see how the Business Central platform would evolve within Microsoft Dynamics 365. We’re beginning to see its power through Business Applications integrations and AppSource innovations. With the improvements, users will experience the solution as a seamless environment, able to tap into intelligent solutions, cloud technologies, and new AI functionality.
I also enjoyed hearing from the Business Central General Manager, Mike Morton, as he discussed the horsepower that Business Applications brings to Business Central. Going forward, Microsoft seems focused on seamless services, customer/user experience, Business Applications integrations, and the empowerment of Microsoft Partners to drive the system to the next level. I’m looking forward to seeing the outcomes of these initiatives, especially with the increased reliance on systems like Microsoft Teams.
As Microsoft notes, we are “Powerful Alone. Better Together.” Microsoft’s Business Applications, through Dynamics 365 and the Power Platform, are designed to tear down system siloes in the business world. While we still face uncertainty, Microsoft carries this message from its products into its actions. I hope to see more as Microsoft rises to meet the evolving needs of businesses everywhere. Here at Silverware, we most certainly are better together, but we also move with intention, making smart, forward-facing decisions so that we, and our partners, can realize a better future together.
We know the future is uncertain. But together, we can imagine a better one.
