Directions North America 2017
Directions is our favorite annual networking and educational event. Intacct Becomes Part of the Sage Family
The Sage Group plc, announced this week that it has acquired Intacct to deliver the first and last cloud Financial Management Solution your business will never need. Sage Intacct will run as a separate division, while Intacct’s management team will continue to support and remain the primary point of contact.
The merger will allow the cloud accounting software firm to move at a more rapid pace and continue to offer industry leading customer service with access to Sage’s customer enablement tools and expertise. Intacct Wins Stevie Award!
Silverware sends a big congratulations to our industry partner Intacct! It was announced this past week that Intacct Contract and Revenue Management was honored with a Silver Stevie Award for Best Product or Service of the Year - Software - Cloud Enterprise Resource category in The 15th Annual American Business Awards. The American Business Awards are the nation’s premier business awards program, and all organizations operating in the U.S.A. are eligible to submit nominations.

Silverware hosts NAV user group Wednesday, Jan. 18
To kick-off the New Year, Silverware is hosting its first NAV User Group for 2017 at its West Seattle Office from 2:00 – 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 18th. The meeting will provide an opportunity to meet fellow NAV users, share experiences and learn what’s new in the NAV world.
We will also take this opportunity to outline our transition plan and wish Hub farewell, as his role with Silverware switches over from day-to-day operations to Corporate Advisor to the Silverware Team.

Team to attend the 2016 Marijuana Business Conference this week
The fifth annual Marijuana Business Conference & Expo (MJBizCon) takes place in Las Vegas this week. And Silverware will be in attendance. For those of you wondering why – we’re glad you asked!
The cannabis industry received additional validation during this year’s election, with five states voting to approve recreational use and three more voting to approve cannabis for medicinal purposes. Experts predict the newest legalizations will help grow the legal cannabis market to nearly $22 billion by 2020. As companies mature, and new companies branch into the industry, they will need effective business management software and repeatable and scalable business processes to climb higher. And that’s where Silverware comes in.

NAVUG Colorado (Denver) Chapter Now Connecting NAV Users
The Denver Chapter of NAVUG held its inaugural meeting on Thursday, November 10 at the Fort Collins Brewery in Fort Collins, Colorado. Silverware has been active in the greater Denver area for many years so Sara Silver was there. The presence of a strong local NAVUG chapter is exceedingly beneficial for current and future NAV customers in Denver and throughout Colorado and the Rockies.
The meeting was led by Mark Rhodes, NAVUG’s Program Director, who happens to be based in Colorado. The participation was terrific and bodes well for the new chapter. The attendees included 15 NAV users representing 7 companies, one partner (Silverware), and two other members of the NAVUG leadership team. Not bad for the initial meeting of a new chapter!
Mark Rhodes provided highlights from the NAVUG Summit recently help in Tampa, and showed the group how to access the many helpful resources on the NAVUG portal page. The chapter then created its leadership team and schedule for future meetings. Lunch included Fort Collins beers and the group enjoyed a great tour of the brewery followed by informal networking. The connections NAV users make with other users are perhaps the most valuable benefit of participation in the local NAV community.

Advantage 2016 Conference Wrap Up

Bob, David and I just returned from Intacct Advantage 2016, the annual conference for Intacct customers and partners, which took place in Orlando this year. We came away with new information, inspiration and a peek into new features and functionality in store for the product over the coming months.
You may have noticed the announcement for the pending Intacct 2016 Release 4 on your Intacct home screen. One of the most notable features included in this release is the addition of the American Express Corporate Card to the Intacct and American Express Vendor Payment Services. When using the vendor payment process, your payments are processed directly through Intacct to your vendor using your Corporate Card. If you already have Intacct American Express ACH Payment Service, this additional capability is included in that subscription. If you are interested in learning more, just let us know. We can help you get the functionality added to your subscription and set up quickly and easily.
We just had our first client go live with the ACH Payment Service last week. They ran 200 vendor payments on Friday. In the past, this effort would require a full 8-hour day to process, print checks, and stuff and mail envelopes. With the American Express ACH Payment Service, the process was completed in 45 minutes with just one push of the button. Needless to say, they are quite pleased with the time savings and the rapid payback of their investment!
In addition to the new credit card processing capabilities, there are new audit capabilities, A/P manual checks have been changed to manual payments, and in a purchasing workflow, employee users can be restricted to view only the documents they have created, or all transaction documents. There are also significant enhancements to the new Contract and Revenue Management modules, along with improvement to the Project Accounting functionality. Read through the release notes to see if there is anything applicable to your specific Intacct environment, or call us and we’ll review them together.
Intacct Advantage always gives us a peek at new functionality planned for the coming year, and this year was no exception. Features slated for 2017 include an impressive updated user interface (UI). Intacct is also changing how the custom report writer works, with a better drag and drop capability instead of the 14 step, drop-down menu process. This should make creating custom reports more intuitive and seamless. We expect to see these new reporting features incorporated in the product sometime during 2017.
#WalkMS with Silverware & Support Smilin’ Phil
On Saturday, November 5 the Silverware crew will come together once again, to support a cause that is near and dear to our hearts. It’s the annual Phoenix Walk for MS! Our goal is to raise $11,000 and have 50 supporters walk with us in our bright orange shirts. We are 86 percent of the way there and have raised more than $9,000.
For more than 10 years Phil Yastrow, Sara’s brother has been living with MS and his dedication and tenacity has been an inspiration. This year Phil has experienced some major changes – he now has numbness in both his legs; impacting his mobility. Always an active person and fierce fundraiser, Phil and many others like him need the community to join in this fight and raise much needed funds to help kill MS.
Silverware will be donating $50 for every employee and family member that joins the team. If you can’t physically join us, virtual walkers are more than welcome too!

Release date for Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2017 is November 1.
Microsoft has nudged back its release date for Dynamics NAV 2017 to November 1. Silverware suggests our customers and visitors check out what is new in NAV 2017 and new license guide for NAV 2017 while they await the new release. We are expecting a wide range of improvements and changes framed around three themes: new opportunities; "bringing two worlds together"; and core enhancements.
Silverware’s consultants and developers believe the most significant change in NAV 2017 is the build out of the Extensions customization framework. Extensions simplify the migration of modifications to future releases. Other important updates include simplified setup of CRM integration, smart notifications, and improved Power BI and Office 365 integration. Improved visibility in Outlook mail and calendar items, has demoed extremely well for NAV users and professional audiences since the beta was released in September.

Nancy brings the rare combination of accounting and ERP consulting skills and real-world accounting perspective. Her most recent achievement only expands the knowledge and value we are able to offer customers when determining the best accounting and financial management solutions. The master’s program included analysis of ERP systems with real world case studies, giving Nancy the ability to help companies understand the best approaches to selecting and implementing a new ERP system.

This is a very special honor and the award was presented to Rodriguez by TRIMIT’s Head of Support, Jesper Bech. Silverware Celebrates Art with New Client in AZ
The 26th Annual Celebration of Fine Art in Scottsdale, Arizona will be open daily from Jan. 16th through March 27th. Located in the big white tents at the Loop 101 and Hayden Road, the event includes 40,000 square feet of art surrounded by an acre of landscaped sculpture garden and outdoor art. Exhibits and events will take place throughout the 10 weeks and the Art Café will be open daily.
Behind the scenes, Silverware has been working with owner Susan Potje and her dedicated team to implement Intacct Cloud ERP in order to improve efficiency. Celebration of Fine Art was looking for modern, multi-dimensional reporting to gain greater insight into cash flow and other key financial and operational business metrics
The cloud-based solution provides anytime, anywhere access and includes fully integrated credit card processing for onsite art sales as well as a tablet-based POS app for ticket sales and the café.

Silverware Software Partners Make a Difference
Working as a team can manifest itself in many ways. At Silverware, one of the ways we build camaraderie is by participating in events like the annual Walk MS.
On November 14, Silverware employees, friends, family members and business partners will join together to walk the two or four mile routes course through the beautiful Papago Park and Phoenix Zoo. Donning team t-shirts we will gather early Saturday morning to show support and to help raise money for the cause. We will enjoy refreshments, get a little exercise and breathe.
Walk MS raises money for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, a non-profit organization with the mission “to stop MS in its tracks, restore what has been lost and end MS forever.” For those that don’t know, MS is an often disabling disease that attacks the central nervous system that disrupts the flow of information between the brain and the body. The funds raised supports “life-changing programs and cutting-edge research.”
We ban together as a team to walk to raise money for research that will help find a cure. More importantly we walk to support Phil Yastrow, Sara’s brother. The team, “Smilin’ Phil,” has raised almost $30,000 through the walk over the past few years. This year we expect to surpass that mark.
Waking up early Saturday morning is hardly a sacrifice when it’s for a good cause. We do it for the team. We do it for Phil. We do it to end MS and we do it for each other.
Teamwork requires a variety of qualities: trust, commitment, cooperation, support. Whether we are working with a client helping to select and to implement the optimal Microsoft Dynamics NAV, Intacct or TRIMIT solution or gathering together to walk 4 miles, the motivation is one and the same.
Silverware will make its annual pilgrimage to Directions this fall. Directions 2015 will take place from October 25-28 at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress in Orlando, Florida. Directions is the only Microsoft Dynamics NAV event brought to NAV partners by NAV partners. This is a great event with the opportunity to look at what NAV 2016 will bring to the community and how it will benefit the NAV user. Apart from it being a great opportunity to network and catch up with friends and partners the conference offers a wealth of knowledge through speakers and sessions.

Barbara Thompson, one of Silverware’s Functional Consultants, will be presenting at a few sessions during the NAVUG Summit. “All About Dimensions: Setup to Reporting” is scheduled for Wednesday 10/14 from 4:30-6:00 PM. In this session you will go deep to learn all the mysteries of dimensions with Dynamics NAV, and learn how to use dimensions to breathe life into your financial data and get more out of your ERP system. On Thursday 10/15 from 9:30-10:30 AM she will be facilitating “Roundtable: Intercompany and Multi-Currency.” Instead of a formal presentation, this session is intended for you to share your challenges and solutions with your peers around intercompany consolidations and multi-currency in an interactive setting. Barbara’s sessions are always popular and definitely not to be missed!
We will host a private party on Thursday, October 15th, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, in the Piano Reception area at the Atlantis Resort (connected to the Convention Center via Sky Bridge.) And you’re invited! Come join us for drinks and small bites while sharing your experiences and gaining insight with your fellow NAV users.
