Selecting ERP Software: Future-proof your business model with a customizable ERP solution

The decision to replace an entry-level accounting package (e.g., QuickBooks, Peachtree) or ERP software can be agonizing.  Your current software may be easy to use but it does not provide the internal controls, discipline or automation you need to grow and be competitive in a challenging market.  It is often overwhelming to get the ball rolling but don’t let that hold your company back.

The mere mention of change often sends a wave of fear throughout organizations and can leave employees ready to fight a new system and, to the company’s detriment, a more efficient and profitable way of doing business.  It is human nature to avoid change especially if the objective is to increase discipline and accountability.  For many people, the thought of cleansing and transferring data, learning the new program, testing workflow and all of the time and effort required is what keeps the status quo in place, providing an opportunity for businesses with superior processes to gain a competitive advantage.

If you are reading this, you likely have a system that is so outdated and dysfunctional it causes more work than it saves, and after the acknowledging its limitations, you have started shopping for something better.  Are you finding the alternatives all seem the same?   How do you make sense of it all and make the right decision for your business?

IT Departments Performing Well Under Tight Budgets with Microsoft Dynamics NAV

Many US corporate executives are cutting back on discretionary spending, an indicator of demand for some higher-margin accounting services, according to The Wall Street Journal. Chief executives are monitoring costs by restricting travel, requiring high-level approval for new office space leases, and even making employees print two-sided documents.

The recession has taught and is still teaching managers that companies can still perform well under tighter budgets, and they plan to keep trying to cut costs. Auditors and bookkeepers may see less spending on optional services by their corporate clients even as economic conditions rebound. Let’s take a look at how Microsoft Dynamics® NAV can help your IT department perform even better with your tightened budgets. Microsoft Dynamics NAV offers a lower total cost of ownership than many ERP systems, helping you to control and reduce IT costs through streamlined implementation, simplified training, and integration with Microsoft products.

The United States’ recycling initiatives have spawned the Reduce!  Reuse!  Recycle! Age. Many of us are recognizing the significance of our long-term impact on our planet and as the population grows, there are fewer places we can store the tons of garbage we create every day of every year, over decades and centuries.  This is why the recycling industry needs an efficient solution in place to get the most done with as little as possible.

Just like the popular 3R Waste Hierarchy- Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Microsoft Dynamics® NAV helps you to more and be more effective with less resources.

How Incremental Cash Flow Analysis Helps Increase Your ROI

Incremental cash flow analysis is the increase or decrease in cash flows that are specifically attributable to a management action. So if your management team is attempting to improve the capacity of a machine, the cash flow resulting from the use of that machine is not where you should stake your decision, but rather the incremental cost of improving the machine, and the incremental revenue that results from having additional volume.

For example, assume that a machine produces 1,000 cans per hour, and an upgrade to the machinery will result in an increase in the theoretical capacity to 1,500 cans per hour, for an incremental change of 500 cans per hour. The cost of the upgrade is $100,000, and the profit from each can is $.04. Since the machine runs 8 hours a day for five days per week, the increase in volume will result in an added cash inflow of $41,600, which is calculated as follows (Example from Accounting Tools):
